Deer Don’t Die
A simplified mobile game that simulates the life of deer in the wild.
Made by Unity 3D
A mini-digital game demo project. My first playable game.
What Happens to Deer
The deer lived in the area that is not been discovered by human. After human discovered this new land, they start to build village and roads. Though roads doesn’t take much space, the deer’s habitat is largely reduced, because it has difficulties in crossing the road.
Game Play
You control the deer movement by clicking the four buttons at the bottom. You can’t move the deer to other places. The day changes. When the night comes, the deer has to go home, or it’s health will go down. You can gain health when at home though. All other three indicators are for: food, water, and happiness. They keep decreasing and the deer need to move to corresponding places to gain food, water and happiness. If any indicator goes to zero, the deer die, which means Game Over.
Why I Made This Game
I made this game as my first project because that's why I learned to make game. I was studying environmental science at UC Davis, and I have examined a lot of environmental issues during a variety of class and the habitat fragmentation was one of them. I did a lot of data simulation and analysis for ecology classes, but the R Studio was not so fun to play with. One day, I forgot when my idea came from, but I wanted to make my simulation games that would look fun. So here it is. After watching several tutorial on Unity, I finished my first game and step in game design.
The game can only be play-tested on my iPhone, but it’s fine. As I look back into it, it might not worth your time to play it. I will make better games for you to play in the future!
